Our Nonprofit Mission

Art Access for All

The Art Garage is more than a studio. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to ensure every Denverite — regardless of income, ability, or background — has access to the transformative power of visual arts.

Arrangement of various art supplies including tubes of paint, paintbrushes, and a palette knife.

Our Impact

  • Children are creating marble-painted patterns on black paper using colorful paints and marbles on a wooden table.

    Scholarships

We provide need-based scholarships so no family is turned away because of cost. Apply confidentially online — most applications are approved.

  • Colorful mural featuring flowers, a tiger, a skull with a cherry on top, a bee, and other whimsical elements painted on a wall.

    Where community meets creativity

We design personalized programming to your community, whether for youth, adults, or multigenerational groups that don't have access to arts education.

  • Children and adults playing and exploring near a small stream surrounded by rocks and trees in a park or garden setting.

    Schools and Outreach

We bring teaching artists into classrooms across Denver, leading residencies, workshops, and programming for students who might not otherwise experience studio art.

Community Partners

Working alongside organizations that share our vision.

The Art Garage partners with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations across the Denver Metro Area, including Laradon, Grovewood Community Development, The Center on Colfax, and local schools.

We work with youth and adults in communities where art access is limited. Our programming supports populations including adults with developmental disabilities, LGBTQ+ families, adults in transitional housing, teens in alternative high schools, and students in under-resourced areas.

This work is made possible by funding from SCFD (Scientific and Cultural Facilities District), the Office of Children's Affairs, Colorado Creative Industries, and community donations.

Class tuition keeps our studio doors open. But it's grants, donations, and sponsorships that let us reach beyond our walls. Your support funds the scholarships, partnerships, and free programming that make art truly accessible.
